Michael grew up in the Ruhr region of Germany in a family with a strong focus on values. Spending time in England and France as a student and graduating from high school in the USA taught him to appreciate an open world.
After his studies, he returned to Germany at the end of the 1980s to set up his own law firm. The following years were characterized by growth and mergers, exciting mandates, successes and of course, some failures.
In a long and distinguished career, Michael was chairman of Interlaw until 2018. He was also awarded the Interlaw Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contribution to the network over two decades. He has participated in numerous voluntary activities, giving back to the communities that have opened has up so many opportunities for him. As the father of three grown-up children, he also learned how important it is to reconcile private and professional goals and expectations.
He is also delighted to have been honoured with the Interlaw Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of the contribution he has made to the network over the past two decades. > Further Information
